Classic Homemade Biscuits – Buttery and Irresistible

These buttery, melt-in-your-mouth biscuits are perfect for any occasion. With a hint of your favorite flavor essence, they pair beautifully with tea, coffee, or as a light snack. Simple to make and even easier to enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups plain flour
  • 80 g powdered sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 100 g butter (cold, cubed)
  • 1 teaspoon flavor essence (e.g., vanilla, almond, or lemon)

Procedure

  1. Prepare the dough: In a bowl, rub the cold butter into the sifted flour and sugar until the mixture resembles fine crumbs.
  2. Add the egg and flavor essence, then knead into a smooth dough. Wrap it in cling film and let it rest in the fridge for at least 1 hour.
  3. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to about 5 mm thick. Use a round cookie cutter (or any shape of your choice) to cut out biscuits.
  4. Stamp or decorate each biscuit if desired, then transfer them to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  5. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C for 15 minutes or until lightly golden around the edges.
  6. Cool completely on a wire rack before serving.

Final Tip

For an extra touch, dip half of each biscuit in melted chocolate or sprinkle with powdered sugar before serving.

Enjoy! 🥐
